MLK Day of Service 2022

Thank you to everyone who pitched in to clean up this historic site!

The Town of Rye commemorated Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 23rd by sponsoring a day of service at the historic African American Cemetery, located within Greenwood-Union Cemetery. A corps of 30 volunteers pitched in to care for the cemetery and its service road.

It is highly recommended that participants wear outdoor work gloves and bring any of the following items with them to help with clean-up work:

  • Rakes
  • Shovels
  • Outdoor Broom
  • Outdoor Working Gloves
  • Face Masks/Coverings are required

* It is important that you dress appropriately. Be sure to wear layers if necessary, thick socks, and closed toe shoes. Face masks/coverings are required.
